Heartwood Homestead

The Heartwood Homestead in Liberia will be the new location for the Heartwood Orphan Home (est. 2008), the Heartwood Beach Retreat, and the Heartwood Cultural Arts Center. This off-grid, self-sustainable, income-generating community is currently in development and in need of your support.

Fighting Poverty One Drum at a Time

Africa Heartwood Project and Djembe Direct are working with African drum carvers to sustain their livlihoods by providing training, micro-credit, and markets for hand crafted djembes and other drums. Heartwood Orphan Home

In October of 2008, Africa Heartwood Project successfully established our Refugee Orphan Home at the Buduburam Refugee Camp in Ghana, Africa. In May 2012 we kicked off the relocation effort to move the Home and all children and staff to their homeland, Liberia. In January 2013 the new Home was officially re-opened in Zuannah Town, Liberia. The Heartwood Launchpad was opened in August 2013 for orphans age 18 and up. Click here to learn more about the project and how you can help!

Village Water Projects

Alantaso Success
Since October 2008 Africa Heartwood Project has planned and completed clean water projects in mulitple communities in Ghana and Liberia. Each bore hole and hand pump provide clean water year-round, improving health, productivity, and educational opportunities for community members. We are currently raising funds for additional Village Water Projects in Liberia for installation in early 2015. Are you passionate about providing clean water?
