Africa Heartwood Project is an all-volunteer non-profit organization with no overhead or administrative expenses ever taken out of your donations. It is our pledge that 100% of your donated funds go to direct implementation of your pre-selected project.Watch the video on the right to learn more about how your donation makes a direct difference, and also learn about our unique and dedicated approach this work.

When making your donation, you may indicate which project you would like to support, or you may designate your Donor Managed Fund, if applicable. If not specified by you, your donation will be used for the project in the greatest need.

Wire Transfer

Africa Heartwood Project will accept wire transfer donations, which are typically larger donations made by organizations and corporations. Please contact us directly to make arrangements.

In Kind Donations

Because of the prohibitively high costs of shipping from North America to Africa, all in-kind donations for the beneficiaries of our projects must either be in proximity to the project, or the donation should include transport to the project. In some cases smaller items urgently needed on-site may be hand-carried in luggage by AHP directors or volunteers when traveling to Africa. Please contact us to coordinate.

The Africa Heartwood Project Model
This Africa Heartwood Project model is based on a variety of project-based small-scale development practices which have been found to be successful in many communities in Africa and other developing regions.

The foundation:

* Local, sustainable resources (including raw materials and labor).
* Appropriate technology that doesn't require expensive maintenance or ongoing education.
* Voluntary income redistribution through free-market principles (rather than through forced taxation).
* Self-determination and self-reliance on the part of the beneficiary.
* Global partnership and knowledge transfer that is mutually beneficial.
* Trickle-up and trickle-down effects apply (as cottage industries and village economies grow their tax     contributions grow - thus strengthening local, regional, and national municipal agencies, and lateral purchases from local vendors strengthens the village economy and inter-dependency).
* Global awareness building through those who experience first-hand the richness and beauty of West African cultures.

Our Approach to Using Donations

Africa Heartwood Project operates on a zero-overhead basis, with no donated funds ever used for administrative fees, salaries, utilities, rent, web hosting, or anything related to operating an organization. Thanks to the generosity of DjembeDirect.com, all of these standard operating costs are covered for us gratis. 100% of your donated funds go to the direct implementation of the project of your choice. All of our directors work for free, and our wonderful volunteers receive no compensation for their time, talents, and energy dedicated to the important work of Africa Heartwood Project.

From top to bottom, AHP is a labor of love, with no expectation of anything but joy in return. All funds are overseen directly by Andy Jones and the board of directors. Africa Heartwood Project is operated with strict accountability and transparency demanded from the carefully selected project-based vendors and service providers. Measures are always taken to ensure that funds are handled with integrity and properly allocated, enabling us to accomplish as much good as possible with your generously donated money.

When projects require a critical sum of funds before action can be taken, the donated funds are held in dedicated AHP accounts in the U.S and/or Ghana.
